Gateway news 6 ( 29 May 2003)
The prototype test consultation has been launched!
Until now, only two partners did answer the questionnaire :
- Mercedes/Jose from PND and
- Thomas from Toxibase.
It is urgent for me to get your answers - deadline 3rd of May - in order to have the time to do a preliminary analysis to share with you in 12 days in Utrecht...
A new column is now filled in on our selection page : the online status
This allows me - as a proofreader - to disable the files that should not appear in the results for various reasons : doubloons, empty descriptions, wrong URL, descriptions in French or in Italian.
The disabled files are marked with " 0 " , and the good ones with " 1 "
Please check this column regurlarly to see if one of your file has been disabled. When you have done the correction, you can tick on " 1 " at the end of the input form.
We have now 402 files in our Gateway!

Good news
- I was previously a bit concerned with the lack of Portuguese input. Looking for the sites that could be described, I found out that Portugal is in a serious lack of websites. I could at least find only five (including alcohol and tobacco)! How strange!
- There has been a big progress in Hana's input, and a little from Patrizia.
Corrected files
Today, 215 files have been proof-red (among which 140 by Stephan)
Reminder of some correct ways of writing:
- Acronyms are no more written with dots.
Ex : HIOB instead of H.I.O.B.
Promotion : I have been asked to write an article on " prevention sites on the net" for the Peddro journal
This journal, published by the Unesco, will be disseminated to around 40/45000 professionals in the world.
I accepted to write it on the basis on our Gateway content and at the condition it will include - in a frame - a consequent description of our project.
For the moment, its title in French is " Le tour du monde en 500 sites " (A world tour in 500 sites).
I think this will be a good promotion for us, and world wide.
I am still working on it. It gave me the opportunity to search on our prototype about 50 times (!) giving me the occasion of many remarks.
As soon my article will be finished, I will send it to you in a Word format : I hope it will suggest you to consider some new websites that aren't yet in our Gateway!
Also don't hesitate to use this letter to share all of your remarks or difficulties, that could serve to the other partners!
